چکیده

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is on a mission: to strengthen law enforcement’s computer forensic capabilities throughout the United States. How are we fulfilling such a sweeping and ambitious mandate? Through an innovative initiative entitled the Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory (RCFL) Program. RCFLs provide much needed computer forensic expertise and training to thousands of law enforcement personnel. Although the demand remains high for skilled computer forensic Examiners e a common challenge facing law enforcement worldwide e RCFLs are doing their part to level the playing field. If properly administered, the FBI believes that the RCFL model can be duplicated from Prague to Portland, with the same level of success.

Digital Forensics Investigation in A Collegiate Environment

Creating, building, managing a cost effective digital forensics lab including a team of qualified examiners can be a challenge for colleges [1] with multiple campuses in multiple towns, counties and states. Leaving such examination responsibilities to each of the campuses results in not only disparity in the results but more than likely excessive duplication of efforts as well as the potential ...

MattockFS; Page-cache and access-control concerns in asynchronous message-based forensic frameworks on the Linux platform

In this dissertation the feasibility of creating a page-cache efficient storageand messaging solution with integrity geared access control for a scalable forensic framework is researched. The Open Computer Forensics Architecture (OCFA),a lab-side scalable computer forensics framework, introduced the concept of a message passing concurrency based forensic framework. Since then, the amount of per...

Automatically Creating Realistic Targets for Digital Forensics Investigation

The need for computer forensics education continues to grow, as digital evidence is present in more crimes, whether the crimes directly involve computers or not. An essential component of training in computer forensics is hands-on, realistic laboratory assignments. Creating detailed, realistic lab assignments, however, is a difficult task. The “crime” must be played out on the machine, often in...
